The DeLorean utilizes a fiberglass underbody to which the stainless steel panels are bolted. It is powered by a Peugeot/Renault/Volvo cast aluminum 174ci V-6 that produces 130 horsepower. The DeLorean has either a five-speed manual or a optional three-speed automatic transmission. DeLoreans were produced from 1981 to 1983 with a total of 8583 DeLoreans produced. 6539 in 1981, 1126 in 1982 and 918 in 1983.
